Dr. Silva is a clinical psychologist with board-certification in the specialty of neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP-CN). She works mainly with adults who have acquired neurological injuries or other medical conditions. Her specialties are with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and cerebrovascular events (CVA, stroke). She primarily conducts neuropsychological evaluations that are used to provide treatment recommendations as well as education about cognitive and behavioral changes to patients and their loved ones.
Dr. Silva is also a qualified medical evaluator (QME) for the state of California and is versed in Workers’ Compensation issues. She is qualified to perform forensic work in the areas of personal injury as well as provide expert testimony.
Outside of private practice, her clinical experiences have included: Working in an inpatient neuro-rehabilitation units for Sharp Healthcare, and conducting pre-surgical evaluations for bariatric patients, transplant surgery patients (liver, kidney, heart, lung), epilepsy patients, and spinal cord stimulator candidates at UCSD.
Aside from neuropsychological evaluations, Dr. Silva has extensive experience with treatment of mental disorders using a primarily cognitive-behavioral approach, as well as elements from dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, and insight-oriented strategies.
